walk

Yes, it’s that beautiful here.

today around

  • Triora: maxi open air disco. Hope they’ll grill sausages!
  • Perinaldo: the third night of fallen stars (observatory, 21:30)
  • Seborga: lunch of alpini (mountain soldiers)
  • Ceriana: ethnic music

walk

Cipressa

A small town we visited on the way to Imperia. Two things surprised me: first, it’s very artistic. So many sculptures, paintings, movable objects. Even the little doors of electricity and water counters are colourful. But, secondly, it’s empty - now, in August. Empty parking, empty bar. Seems that tourism in Liguria is in real crisis.

today around

  • Andagna: 20:30 gastronomy, 22:00 open air disco
  • Badalucco: open air cinema (21:00, Piazzetta del Parroco)
  • Ceriana: dancing with the orchestra “Baronetti del Liscio”. Mussels alla marinara (that is, in garlic and tomato sauce)
  • Menton: Spivakov (violin) and Ghindin (piano) playing three sonatas of Brahms. 21:30, Parvis de la Basilique Saint Michel Archange
  • Perinaldo: again, the night of falling stars (observatory, 21:30)
  • Realdo: the orchestra “Ciansunier” (must be a dialect)
  • Seborga: the orchestra “Gli Ascendenti” (ascending… stars?)

Santa Caterina

That’s the usual final destination of my evening walks: Santa Caterina, that is St. Catherine chapel. It is dated 1390 and obviously is a pagan temple by nature. Too much sun, too much air, the view is too beautiful - it just can’t be christian.

today around

  • Badalucco: open air dancing (21:00, Piazza Marconi)
  • Molini Di Triora: hunting for treasures, whatever it means
  • Perinaldo: the night of falling stars (21:30, observatory). The only problem might be clouds

today around

  • Triora: charity lotto game (21:15, Boschetto)
  • Menton: Grisha Sokolov plays Shubert and Scryabin (21:30, Theatre Francis Palmero - Palais de l’Europe)
  • Seborga: Orchestra “Wilmer Divina”

Yesterday we had another dialect performance, “A tersa porta” (On the third port?), but I was too tired to attend it, after having spent the whole day travelling to Nice and Sanremo. But I’d like to take part in the lotto game tonight. It is raining at the moment, but hopefully the evening will be clear.

today around

Only one thing has drawn my attention, and it’s in France, not in Italy.

  • Menton: classical music performance by a chinese pianist Song Siheng. Beethoven, Debussy, Wagner/Liszt, Ravel, Ginastera (Chapelle des Penitents Blancs, 18:00)

Who the hell is Ginastera?

today around

  • Badalucco: today opens a painting exhibition (until 6th of September). Also, there is a festival in the honour of Madonna of the Snow (why the hell in August?!) and ballroom dancing with the orchestra “Omar della Giovanna” (20:30)
  • Ceriana: dancing and gastronomy
  • Seborga: “Angels under the sky” - open-air poetry and paintings
  • Verdegga: fest of Saviour, with free excursion to Monte Saccarello. I’m afraid, it’s too late, the excursion started at 6 in the morning, and at 11:00 there was a mass by a bishop

evening walk

comedy in dialect

Yesterday’s performance by Montalto artists (I think they are amateurs but I might be wrong) gathered a lot of people, when I arrived all the seats were taken. Strangely enough all roles were played by women. I didn’t understand much, the only thing that attracted my attention was an old man (played by a young woman) who always wanted to get a massage from his wife. Just as my husband.

today around

  • Andagna: gastronomy evening with local specialities (20:30). followed by open-air disco dancing (22)
  • Ceriana: more or less the same, “festa in musica” and local dishes
  • Montalto: harmonium and piano duet Adriana Costa e Marco Peron (21:30 Pieve di San Giorgio)
  • Seborga: fest of mussels with the orchestra “Sandro Moreno”

evening walk

today around

Thanks God, it’s Friday! So life is a little bit more vivid here.

  • Triora: comic performance (in the ligurian dialect) by Montalto actors; the masterpiece is called “Vegliu sci, ma scemu na”. As far as I can guess, it should be “I want to be there, but I am here”, but it’s a wild guess! (21:15, Boschetto)
  • Seborga: classical music
  • Badalucco: open air cinema (21:00, Piazzetta del Parroco)
  • Perinaldo: observations of the stars, Jupiter, Moon etc. (observatorium, 21:30)

evening walk

today around

Even less than yesterday!

  • Seborga: dancing with the orchestra “Stefano Frigero” from Radio Zeta

evening walk

today around

Not much happens here, really.

  • Castellario: San Pietro celebrations, dancing, local dishes
  • Ceriana: mountain bike competition
